In the fall, trees like me
make the squirrel’s run and hop
because the nuts
on our branches begin to drop.

Yes, we’re dropping our nuts
all over the ground.
And they’ll sit there and rot,
unless they’re found
by busy squirrel’s who will bury them away.
And, if their memory fails
there’ll be a tree there one day.
‘Cause winter freezes
the ground around the nut.
